I'm not sure we appreciate photography as much as we do other art forms. Part of this comes from the reality that surrounds and permeates a photograph - it's very, very real, and the photographer strives for clarity and crispness in the representations. Perhaps this is why black and white images continue to be relevant - they strip away extraneous information (color) and leave us with something that is at once familiar and also non-existent - for nothing exists in black and white. Nothing. I also think that pictures are becoming too common-place... Everyone has a camera in their pocket, and while that's a very democratic thing (everyone can express themselves in a picture easily and readily, and can find an audience for these images, which are casually taken and casually viewed, and perhaps just as casually forgotten) I think that we embrace that casual attitude, and it spills over to all aspects of the media, making it impotent. So why now are we suddenly hearing about the war on women? There is no war on women, just as there is no racism overall in America. The reason the liberals have fabricated this problem and spun this lie is because it's almost time to make history again: it's time to have the first woman president. And if you're not voting for her, you just hate women! Make sure you don't bring up the real issues in this upcoming election--then you'd have to talk about Hillary's track record, which is a dismal failure; she's been in bed with a socialist for the past 8 years, and the sane people of this country, the majority, hate what Obama has done to this country. Even the people in the Democratic Party are distancing themselves from Obama.
Hillary did such a stellar job as Secretary of State...maybe she could run on the great relationship we have with Russia that she “reset;” or what great progress we've had the last 8 years in the Middle East; or she could talk about how she saved Ambassador Chris Stevens in Benghazi...oh wait, maybe not.
If you bring up the real issues, you'd have to talk about a REAL war on women--a woman who won't stand up for herself; a woman who is repeatedly insulted and degraded while her husband is out philandering; if you want to talk about something humiliating for women, talk about the way Hillary allows herself to be treated and used and abused.
So since you can't talk about the real issues, how are you going to sell Hillary to the American people? You've got to make it about a war on women. If you say it over and over, it becomes an unchallenged fact that becomes part of our consciousness. Liberals are very good at preying on people;s emotions. They are trying to make you upset and vote for Hillary--give her a pity vote,vote for her gender, because CLEARLY she isn't the best person for the job. We've read this script before; we've played this game before. Unfortunately, you fall right into their hands. You are ruled by emotion rather than logic--the perfect liberal!
One of the scriptures you love to quote that you think fits your liberal agenda is in 4 Nephi:
2 And it came to pass in the thirty and sixth year, the people were all converted unto the Lord, upon all the face of the land, both Nephites and Lamanites, and there were no contentions and disputations among them, and every man did deal justly one with another.
3 And they had all things common among them; therefore there were not rich and poor, bond and free, but they were all made free, and partakers of the heavenly gift.
But read on and discover that pride and iniquity and contention gradually worked their way in:
35 And now it came to pass in this year, yea, in the two hundred and thirty and first year, there was a great division among the people.
That's what modern-day liberals love to do...cause DIVISION among the people. Aren't you better than this?
I would love to entertain your philosophy, mingled with scripture, if I hadn't already been warned. So, thanks for your attempt at vitriolic persuasion - or at least exposition - but I don't think you have any real evidence of your point of view other than the frenzied Fox News sales pitches. My advice is to turn off the conspiracy theorist rhetoric, and just look around. Feminism has been going strong in its modern configuration for over 100 years. And while great strides have been made, the discussion must go on until the discrimination has ended. This is true of race as well. Because, anymouse, the divisions ARE ALREADY THERE, and thoughtful and charitable people work to diminish those arbitrary and hurtful divisions.
And if we do quote those scriptures it is to point out that there is hope, that it can be done. Which is probably the point of the inclusion of the verses in the first place. It is also instructive to note that it was economic division that first separated the people, based in pride and the abandonment of charity.
