A man woke up this morning
The sunlight in his eyes
His heart was full
A song on his lips
A twinkle in his eye
Why is this man happy?
In another place a child lays down to sleep
On the hardened soil that is
The floor of his house
He is hungry
He is weak
But his soul is free
Why is this child happy?
Two girls share an apple
Each taking a bite in turn
They share secrets and stories and love
As they walk the street together
To the middle school they attend
Why are they happy?
Each moment of life we are presented
With various stimuli
Some are good
Many are not
But what we do with that moment
Is up to us
Why are you happy?
The sunlight in his eyes
His heart was full
A song on his lips
A twinkle in his eye
Why is this man happy?
In another place a child lays down to sleep
On the hardened soil that is
The floor of his house
He is hungry
He is weak
But his soul is free
Why is this child happy?
Two girls share an apple
Each taking a bite in turn
They share secrets and stories and love
As they walk the street together
To the middle school they attend
Why are they happy?
Each moment of life we are presented
With various stimuli
Some are good
Many are not
But what we do with that moment
Is up to us
Why are you happy?
