It's rainy today.
Spring in Texas comes early. Like, a week after winter begins. While this is generally a good thing (I strongly dislike cold weather!) it also means rainy, wet weather, which can be depressing. I'm not one who is affected by things like this much. But I much prefer sunny weather to rain.
I don't think I'm alone in that.
Yet, interestingly, it is the rain and cooler weather that the plants love at this time of year.
Things of moment are happening in my life. Some of which have happened at my instigation - I've got a new job, which sets in motion a whole slew of other reactionary events. I am going to be commuting quite a ways each day, which means I'll need a new car. My current car, while still in awesome shape and still very comfortable and fun to drive, is also not very efficient. It's good enough for getting me around now, and as scout master it was good to have to load up for scout camping purposes. But I only drive 10 miles most days, and that will increase by a factor of 10 once I get my new job.
My parents, meanwhile, are in need of reliable, comfortable, and safe transportation. We (my other siblings and I) had discussed extensively how to accomplish this. Well, with the new job, it would appear that my need has given us an opportunity to settle that. I will drive my old car up to Idaho and give it to my parents. So, in between finishing up this job and starting my new one, I will have a week off to get things squared away. And I like a nice, long, road trip, at the end of which I'll get to see some of the fam. So it's a win all the way around.
But there's a lot to be done over the next several weeks. I also need to find a big box to clean out my office with. That's a bit sad, really. :(
